ELECT CLAIRE SUSSMAN FOR JUDGE
Pierce County District Court Dept. 2
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I am running for Pierce County District Court Judge Position No. 2 in the 2010 Election because I have a deeply rooted belief in equal access to the courts and a firm but fair approach to the administration of justice that ensures that all parties receive their day in court.
The following testamonial is from a law enforcement officer commenting on how I run court when I am on the bench:
I was recently a witness in a District Court Case in which Ms. Sussman was presiding over as Pro Tem Judge. I arrived early and had the opportunity to observe the cases that were heard before mine. Ms. Sussman treated all parties, their attorneys, and the officers with courtesy and respect. She was truly fair and equitable on the bench. The citizens could sense that she took the time to draw out all of the relevant information that the parties and witnesses wanted considered. Whether or not Pro Tem Sussman ultimately agreed with one party's position or the other, everyone involved in the matter knew they were given equal access to justice, and that their case was handled fairly and intelligently. I believe Ms. Sussman would serve the citizens well as Pierce County District Court Judge.
--Joe Boyle, 21 years service as a police officer.
I bring integrity and experience to the bench. As a former prosecutor for Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office, I earned the reputation of being an aggressive litigator – prosecuting those who had trespassed on the rights of others, and fighting for victims of violent crimes by litigating cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, and attempted murder.
My experience in the prosecutor’s office led me to my pursuit of upholding justice as a Judge Pro Tem. For the past seven years, I have gained extensive experience presiding over every type of case heard in District Court, and have developed a reputation for a fair and efficient management of the often high volume dockets. I have also had the benefit of working as a Pro Tem Judge in other jurisdictions where I was able to gain insight on other courts’ solutions to common problems that affect courts at this level.
As a District Court Judge, I will be a tireless advocate for access to justice, and fair and impartial application of the laws.
I appreciate your support in the upcoming Primary on August 17th, 2010, and General Election on November 2nd, 2010.
Claire Sussman
